Shesa's OCTOBER 2026 Investment Blog

By Shesa Nayak Welcome to Shesa’s investment Blog!   U.S. Stock Market Update September was another mixed but still constructive month for the U.S. stock market, with volatility remaining elevated. Despite September historically being the weakest month for stocks, the Nasdaq-100 gained 3.23%, marking its third consecutive year of gains for the month of September. Other major indexes were down for the month. However, all major indexes remained higher year-to-date, supported largely by continued strength in technology and AI-related stocks. At the same time, Treasury yields remained elevated, adding pressure to valuations and keeping investors cautious. The 10-year yield briefly touched 5.33%, a level last seen in April 2002. October is shaping up to be an important month because Q3 earnings season is about to begin and more importantly midterm election is on November 3, 2026, less than one month away. Shesa's Weekend Stock Market Updates - 9|20|26

Welcome to my weekend Updates Key Takeaway for last week: The Fed delivered its first rate hike in over 3 years and left the door open for more. Markets recovered better than expected on Thursday, but higher rates, sticky oil prices, and September seasonality still call for caution.   Last week U.S. equities finished mixed in a volatile session. Stocks sold off sharply after the Federal Reserve’s rate decision on Wednesday, then recovered strongly on Thursday as oil prices eased and yields pulled back. Friday was quieter as the 10-year yield moved back slightly below 5%. Overall sentiment remained cautious despite Thursday’s rebound. T echnology led the recovery while Energy and Financials lagged. The Nasdaq managed a modest weekly gain, while the Dow and Russell 2000 lagged.  Let's take a look at the Indices. S&P 500 declined -0.1% to close at 7,650.50 (YTD: +11.8% ) Nasdaq rose +0.7% to close at 26,522.55 (YTD: +14.1% ) Dow Jones declined -1.7% to close at 51,68...

Shesa's weekend Stock Market Updates - 9|13|26

Welcome to my weekend Updates Last week U.S. equities closed lower despite some rebounds on Friday. Early-week pressure came from rising oil prices amid Middle East tensions and higher Treasury yields. Both the PPI and CPI matched expectations at +0.4% month-over-month, though core CPI came in slightly hotter than forecast. This lifted the probability of a 0.25% Fed rate hike at the September 16 meeting to approximately 85-90% . Oil prices moved beyond $100, further raising inflation concerns. The 10-year Treasury yield closed at 4.96% and the 30-year yield reached 5.35%. Friday’s recovery was supported by a retreat in oil prices and reduced near-term policy uncertainty. Technology and hardware stocks led the gains, with Dell rising about 12% to a record high following strong results from Oracle.   • S&P 500 declined -0.80% to close at 7,656.98 • Nasdaq declined -0.66% to close at 26,333.04 • Dow Jones declined -1.57% to close at 52,573.29 • Russell 2000 declined -2.41% t...
