Shesa's Weekend Stock Market Updates - 8|30|26

Welcome to my weekend updates Last week began on a mixed-to-soft note, with tech and semiconductor stocks under pressure. However, momentum improved midweek following fantastic earnings results and upbeat forward guidance from Nvidia, Salesforce, and CrowdStrike. Nvidia delivered strong revenue guidance, driven by continued strength in AI and data centers, while Salesforce and CrowdStrike also reported impressive results. The strong earnings helped lift the Nasdaq and broader technology sector on Thursday. However, on Friday, we saw a modest pullback as Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s comments reiterated the Fed’s focus on fighting elevated inflation. His Jackson Hole speech was interpreted as hawkish, raising expectations that the Fed could consider further rate hikes in the near future. Let’s take a look at how the major stock indices performed last week. S&P 500: +0.5%, Closed at 7,711.76 | Year-to-Date:  up +12.7% Dow Jones: +0.5%, Closed at 53,559.99 | Year-to-Date: up +...

Shesa's Weekend Stock Market Updates - 8|23|26

Welcome to my weekend stock market updates U.S. stocks finished the week of August 17–21, 2026 lower overall, despite a solid rebound on Friday. The  rising Treasury yields brought apprehension to the market. The 30-year yield hit 19 years highs near 5.3% and higher oil prices (driven by Middle East/Iran-related tensions) weighed on sentiment earlier in the week. Inflation concerns and geopolitical uncertainty contributed to the pressure. The retail sector earnings  were mixed. This week we will have two extremely important events. But before that let's see the weekly stock market index:  S&P 500: Down -1.43% (closed at 7,674.37) Nasdaq Composite: Down -2.05% (closed at 26,180.46) Dow Jones Industrial Average: Down about -0.85% (closed at 53,277.01) Small-caps (Russell 2000): Down -1.65% . FED Minutes last week As inflation concerns deepened, several participants wanted an immediate increase due to broad-based price pressures, and “many” Fed members said further tig...

Shesa's Weekend Stock Market Updates - 8|16|26

Welcome to my weekend updates Last week most of the U.S. indexes finished the week mixed. The market extended its recent winning streak on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, supported by cooling CPI/inflation data and solid corporate results from some AI Data Center companies. This year the small-caps stocks outperformed, suggesting broader participation. So far, Q2 earnings season continued to impress, with a high percentage of S&P 500 companies beating estimates and overall earnings growth tracking around 50% , well above earlier forecasts as AI adoption continues. The AI infrastructure spending and related semiconductor companies have been delivering great results. More importantly,  the CPI and PPI data were good for investors as it reduced market odds of a September Fed rate hike from around 50% earlier in the week to around 30% by Friday.  Here is how the stock indices performed for the week: S&P 500 was up +0.4% to close at 7,785.76, marking its third c...

Shesa's Weekend Stock Market Updates - 8|9|26

Shesa's Weekend Stock Market Updates - 8|2|26

Welcome to my Weekend's update Last week was a roller coaster ride for the technology investors. Nasdaq experienced a sharp drop after the FOMC meeting on Wednesday. It almost reached to the correction territory, down -9.85%  from its all-time high. The AI and semiconductor related stocks were decimated but finally saw some light at the end of the tunnel as market bounced back on Thursday and Friday due to strong earnings from Microsoft and Amazon. The market jitter was aggravated after the press conference of Fed chair Kevin Warsh. The investors got confused about FED's action and got panicked. Having said that, stocks finished higher for the week capping a volatile July with a rebound driven by strong Big Tech earnings that eased some AI-spending concerns. For the full month of July, the Dow eked out a small gain 0.3%, while the S&P 500 was down -0.1%  and the Nasdaq fell sharply -3.2% .  Economic report last week   The FOMC kept the interest ra...
