Shesa's weekend Stock Market Updates - 9|13|26

Welcome to my weekend Updates Last week U.S. equities closed lower despite some rebounds on Friday. Early-week pressure came from rising oil prices amid Middle East tensions and higher Treasury yields. Both the PPI and CPI matched expectations at +0.4% month-over-month, though core CPI came in slightly hotter than forecast. This lifted the probability of a 0.25% Fed rate hike at the September 16 meeting to approximately 85-90% . Oil prices moved beyond $100, further raising inflation concerns. The 10-year Treasury yield closed at 4.96% and the 30-year yield reached 5.35%. Friday’s recovery was supported by a retreat in oil prices and reduced near-term policy uncertainty. Technology and hardware stocks led the gains, with Dell rising about 12% to a record high following strong results from Oracle.   • S&P 500 declined -0.80% to close at 7,656.98 • Nasdaq declined -0.66% to close at 26,333.04 • Dow Jones declined -1.57% to close at 52,573.29 • Russell 2000 declined -2.41% t...

Shesa's Weekend Stock Market Updates - 9|20|26

Welcome to my weekend Updates Key Takeaway for last week: The Fed delivered its first rate hike in over 3 years and left the door open for more. Markets recovered better than expected on Thursday, but higher rates, sticky oil prices, and September seasonality still call for caution.   Last week U.S. equities finished mixed in a volatile session. Stocks sold off sharply after the Federal Reserve’s rate decision on Wednesday, then recovered strongly on Thursday as oil prices eased and yields pulled back. Friday was quieter as the 10-year yield moved back slightly below 5%. Overall sentiment remained cautious despite Thursday’s rebound. T echnology led the recovery while Energy and Financials lagged. The Nasdaq managed a modest weekly gain, while the Dow and Russell 2000 lagged.  Let's take a look at the Indices. S&P 500 declined -0.1% to close at 7,650.50 (YTD: +11.8% ) Nasdaq rose +0.7% to close at 26,522.55 (YTD: +14.1% ) Dow Jones declined -1.7% to close at 51,68...

Shesa's Weekend Updates - 8|27|26

Welcome to my weekend Updates U.S. stocks finished the week higher overall — the first winning week in the last 3 weeks driven by technology and AI strength. Nasdaq remained near recent highs after setting records earlier in the week. Nasdaq Composite hit new all-time closing highs back-to-back on Monday, September 21, and Tuesday, Sept 22, 2026.  The Trump-Xi meeting delivered only a short two-month trade-truce extension, while Tesla officially launched high-volume Semi production. The  oil prices fluctuated due to Middle East tensions, with global oil (Brent) closing around $104 and U.S. oil near $92 per barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. bond prices fell as inflation concerns and expectations of further Fed rate hikes pushed Treasury yields higher. The 10-year Treasury yield closed at 5.17% , highest level since July 2007 , nearly 19 years ago .  The 30-year yield at 5.49% on Friday, September 25.  Sentiment stayed selective outside of tech. Stock Market Indices Ind...
